Notes: On the Saturday of the 2009 New York Comic Con, 2 cast members of the hit TV show FRINGE, John Noble and Jasika Nicole, signed autographs at the Fan Expo Canada booth.  During a break I found out that Jasika is a cartoonist (and hand bag designer).  I asked if she wouldn’t mind adding to my sketch theme and she graciously agreed.  During lulls in the all-day signing she was able to knock out what is really a self-portrait.  And yes, I did ask:  Jasika/Astrid does Batusi with her eyes closed in real-life.  A totally unexpected artist addition to the Doing The Batusi theme!

That large stack of Aspen Comics was brought over by someone from their booth who had stopped by for an autograph (sorry I forgot your name).  Someone from DC (Mike??–again my apologies for my amnesia) also delivered a sizeable stack of comics for Jasika as well.  That made her day… I think 🙂

Notes: I became a fan of Afua’s work the moment GENIUS hit the comic book stores.  I actually voted daily during the Pilot Season period, something I had never done before and probably will never do again.  Thankfully there were others who felt the same way so look out for a 5 issue run of GENIUS in 2009. I went to the NYCC hoping to get 3 sketches from artists whose work I like and I was lucky to get a great piece from one of them!
