Recovering But New Posts A-Coming

September 2, 2010

Just recovering from Fan Expo 2010 but new posts will be up shortly.  I finally got the pieces re-scanned (and backed up this time around) and ready to go.

A cool piece from Nate Wragg as well as 2 great pieces of art given to me at the end of Fan Expo by Paul Azaceta and Alex Maleev are going to be posted soon.  Unfortunately I never had the time to get some additional commissions from Paolo Rivera, Jill Thompson, Gary Frank, The Kuberts, Tim Bradstreet and numerous others.  Next time… I hope. 🙂

See ya Saturday!

Death And Delirium 004 – The Endless on Abbey Road

June 1, 2010

The Endless on Abbey Road - Destruction, Delirium, Death and Dream

The Death and Delirium Collection

Artist:   Tom Fowler
Subject:
Sandman’s The Endless – Destruction, Delirium, Death and Dream with Mervyn Pumpkinhead
Date: March 3, 2010
Location: Ottawa, Ontario

Note(s): After Tom went above and beyond in his first commission piece I just had to get a second one.  Took me awhile to come up with a suitable subject for him but it all fell into place once I saw this Destruction piece

Death, Delirium and the iconic Abbey Road image were my only instructions.  And as always, Tom doesn’t disappoint with adding his little humourous touches (check out Mervyn) that I wasn’t expecting.

Note(s): Wow, been a long time since I posted an update.

Here’s one from Tom Hodges whose work I became familiar with primarily  due to his appearances on the Comic Geeks Speak podcasts.  I’m actually not a Star Wars fan but I did have a little crush on Leia back in the day.

C2E2: The Day Before

April 15, 2010

I arrived in Chicago early this morning for C2E2.  We are staying at the McCormick Hyatt which is next door to the montrosity that is McCormick Place Convention Centre.

You have to walk under these colourful banners located near the east hall where the C2E2 show is located.  Little things that Reed is doing to make this a fun show.

078: Carnage-tusi by Kelly Tindall

April 14, 2010

Carnage by Kelly Tindall

‘Tusi #: 078

ArtistKelly Tindall
Subject: Carnage (Amazing Spider-Man)
Date: February 28, 2010
Location: Winter Toronto Comicon, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Note(s): Been wanting to get a Tindall contribution for a little while now but either missed his sketching times (TCAF) or just not being able to get away from my duties to enjoy myself (Fan Expo).  Of course when I finally get the opportunity I get busy at the con  and have no time to chat with him.  And I come of looking aloof or, worse, an ungrateful asshat.  So my apologies to Kelly.  I really do appreciate the Carnage piece.  And I especially dig the “hand coming out of the border” bit.
